Hamilton and Ballinrobe

there is no flat racing in England today, with 2 jumps meetings at Plumpton and Uttoxeter, while there is flat action in Scotland at Hamilton and in Ireland at Ballinrobe. The most intersting event is the 6 furlongs conditions raceat 15.40 CET at Hamilton, which in theory should only concern the two top-weights Garnica (David and Adrian Nicholls) and Major Cadeaux (Richard Fahey/ Paul Hanagan). They are clear best on ratings, but neither has raced since May. Garnica will be remembered as a Baden-Baden winner in 2006, but has only sporadically raced since. Clear preference is for Major Cadeaux, previously with Richard Hannon, who is having his first race for his new trainer, currently in sensational form. His only run this year ended in a fifth place (of 11) in the Group One Lockinge Stakes, and a repetition of that form would make him almost impossible to beat here. Fahey and his stable jockey Hanagan can go on to land a hat-trick with Layla´s Boy in the 2yo maiden at 16.10 a nd Sunnyside Tom in the claimer half an hour later. Another trainer with good prospects at Hamilton is Sir Mark Prescott, who can take the two best handicaps with Breakheart Move at 17.10 and Valid Point at 17.40, both partnered by Seb Sanders. The card at Ballinrobe is very low-level for an Irish Sunday meeting, but several of the top trainers saddle runners, and Aidan O´Brien and Dermot Weld can fight out the 1 3/4 mile maiden at 17.45 with Waltz (Seamus Heffernan) and Rite of Passage (Pat Smullen) respectively.
