Thirsk, Windsor and Ballinrobe (Ireland) this evening

Paul Hanagan, riding this afternoon at Wolverhampton, rushes north to Thirsk this evening, where he can win the 2yo maiden at 20.30 CET on Richard Fahey´s Our Joe Mac. Best race here is the 5 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 21.30.One could be lucky here with Lucky Art (Ruth Carr/ Silvestre de Sousa) or Lucky Numbers (Paul Green/ Jamie Spencer), both of whom have a chance, but we prefer top-weight Glamorous Spirit (Ron Harris/ Kevin Guunova), who made all to win at Chester last time. At Windsor, the best race by far is the 6 furlongs handicap at 20.20. This looks very open with several in-form performers, including last-time-out winners Esteem Machine (Roger Teal/ Jimmy Fortune) and Olynard (Ralph Beckett/ Richard Kingscote), while Vhujon (David Evans/ Neil Callan), who has been running in better races, and Saucy Brown, whose trainer and jockey Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes have such a good record here, also look dangerous.

Point of Light looks a typical Sir Mark Prescott handicapper: after 3 runs down the field last year, he did not make his 2009 debut until the end of July, but has since won 3 races in quick succession and can complete a fourtimer in the 1 1/2 mile handicap at 21.20 with Chris Catlin in the saddle. The improving Vita Mia (David Evans/ Louis-Philippe Beuzelin) is the obvious danger. In Ireland, there is a mixed meeting at Ballinrobe (4 flat races followed by 3 steeplechases). Best flat race is the 9 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 19.40, which can go to Dermot Weld´s Qassaar (Pat Smullen), a maiden winner at the recent Galway meeting, while over fences Ruby Walsh has fancied rides, notably Jubilant Note for Mike Murphy at 20.40 and Coffee Tea or Me for Willie Mullins at 21.40.
