rest of Glorious Goodwood: day two

the rest of the Goodwood card is also highly interesting. The Group Two Vintage Stakes for 2yo´s over 7 furlongs at 15.45 has several promising and lightly-raced types engaged, notably Xtension (Clive Cox/ Adam Kirby), who won his maiden ovr 6 furlongs hre and was thn runner-up to Canford Cliffs, possibly the bst uropan juvenile so far seen out, at Royal Ascot. Dtreamspeed (Andrew Balding/ William Buick) also created a very positive impression whn winning hs maiden at Sandown and looks the main danger. The handicaps all have large fields and look extremely competitive, especially the opening race over 2 miles 5 furlongs with 20 runners, many of whom have been hurdling. Som Tala (Mick Channon/ Frankie Dettori) looks the class act here after winning the Northumberland Plate last time, but he has a huge weight to carry, and Channon´s other runner Aaim to Please (Darryll Holland) probably has just a good a chance. Last time out he beat several of these at Newbury. including the Ge rman-breds Absolut Power (Jonathan Geake/ Martin Dwyer) and Swordsman (Charlie Gordon/ Cathy Gannon), both sons of Acatenango who will stay the trip. Both of them are now better off at the weights, and we are quite keen on Absolut Power, who has not won for ages, but could find everything click into place here. Peter Bowen´s Markington has won his last 3 races, all with today´s jockey William Carson (grandson of the great Willie), but faces much tougher opposition now and we prefer Baddam (Ian Williams/ Richard Hughes), who is inconsistent but often runs well in these big staying handicaps and in fact won this race last year.

2. Race: Xtension - Dreamspeed - Roi De Vitesse
