Leicester, Sandown and Naas (Ireland) this evening

Frankie Dettori is in action at Sandown this evening and his most significant ride is Godolphin´s Emirates Sports in the 7 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 20.40 CET. The lightly-raced colt has won 2 of his 3 starts but will need to be at his best to give weight to the very consistent Star Links (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes) and to Crime Writer /Royston French) whose trainer Mark Johnston is always dangerous on his raids on southern racetracks. Dettori has 2 other mounts, including Godolphin´s Burgundy Ice, who is dropped sharply in grade following her listed race flop and now contests a class 4 handicap at 21.15. At Leicester, the 1 1/2 mile handicap for older horses at 20.55 can go to Luca Cumani´s Hada Men (Dane O´Neill), narrow winner of his only start in 2009, but Summer Lodge (Jeremy Glover/ Alan Munro), first or second on all recent starts, looks a big danger. At Naas, most of the top Irish stables will be in action. Aidan O´Brien saddles two interesting newcomers in the 2yo mile maiden at 20.30. Stable jockey Johnny Murtagh rides Await the Dawn, but on pedigree Banyan Tree (Seamus Heffernan), who is out of classic winner User Friendly, looks equally smart. Reiteration (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning) has already shown good form and is the one to beat.
