Redcar, Wolverhampton (a.w.) and Yarmouth this afternoon

A typical Monday afternoon with mainly poor racing and, especially at Yarmouth, some very small fields. Only 4 run in the 1 1/2 mile handicap at 18.00 CET, where Luca Cumani´s Falcativ (Dane O´Neill) stands out, and only 6 in the mile handicap an hour earlier, in which Tartan Gigha (Mark Johnston/ Jo Fanning) looks the safest option. There are 12 runners in the maiden race at 16.30, but Ithbaat is likely to be the hottest favourite of the day here, especially in view of the fantastic form of owner Hamdan al Maktoum, trainer John Gosden and jockey Richard Hills. Small fields also at Redcar, where 4 are entered in the fillies handicap over 7 furlongs at 16.50, with the consistent Leftonthshelf (Jon Spearing/ Adrian Nicholls) and Strawberry Moon (Brian Smart/ Tom Eaves) can fight out the finish, even though they are neboth seasonal debutants. The 3yo handicap over 9 furlongs at 17.50 has 5 runners, and top-weight Postman (Smart/ Eaves) can complete a hat-trick here, at the main expense of Tarzan (Mark Johnston/ Greg Fairley). The 5 furlongs claiming race at 16.10 could be the best race on a poor card at Wolverhampton. Harry Up (Kevin Ryan/ Neil Callan) and Desperate Dan (Tony Haynes/ Tom Queally) are absolute specialists here, and both have won 4 times over this CD already this year. Last time they met, Harry Up, who likes to make the running, came out on top by 1 3/4 lengths, and although he is slightly worse off at the weights now, he can repeat the dose today.
