Haydock today

the main meeting in the U.K. today is Haydock, featuring the Group 3 John of Gaunt Stakes over 7 furlongs at 16.05 CET as well as 3 listed races. The John of Gaunt looks quite tricky, although Main Aim (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) looks certain to start a warm favourite following his easy handicap win last time. However he is up in class and in distance, so things may not be quite as straightforward now. Godolphin´s Asset (Saeed bin Suroor/ Willie Supple) looks a big danger, as is Tariq (Peter Chapple-Hyam/ Alan Munro). Among the longshots Laa Rayb(Mark Johnston/ Royston French), disappointing his last starts but his good second place in Cologne last September not forgotten, and CD specialst Welsh moror (Tom Tate/ Stv Drown) - espcially if it rains- are also worth consideration. The listed race over 5 furlongs at 15.05 is also very open, Royal Rock (Chris Wall/ Alan Munro) is favourite here, but the 2 3yo´s in the field, Anglezark (Tim Easterby/ Andrew Elliott) and Percul ator (Paul Cole/ Jimmy Quinn) are dangerous, as well as Dandy Man (Saeed bin Suroor/ Seb Sanders), while an exotic note is added by Ialysos, winner of 6 successive races in his native Greece, but now with Luca Cumani and partnered by in-form William Buick. However he may not be good enough, and Buick has better chances with Jeremy Noseda´s Awinnersgame in the 6 furlongs listed race for 3yo´s at 17.10; Sayif (Chapple-Hyam/ Munro) and Danehill Destiny (William Haggas/ Ryan Moore) look his main opponents. The listed race for fillies and mares over 1 1/2 miles at 15.35 could go to Clowance (Roger Charlton/ Seb Sanders), who however has not run since finishing 4th in last years Oaks.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Royal Rock - Anglezarke - Dandy Man
2. Race: Gravitation - Clowance - Les Fazzani
3. Race: Main Aim - Asset - Arabian Gleam
4. Race: Take Ten - Strike Shot - Senate Majority
5. Race: Sayif - Awinnersgame - Damien
6. Race: Amerigo - Cape Tribulation - Tilt
