Brighton, Cartmel (N.H.) and Lingfield (a.w.)

Once again, very modest sport at this afternoon´s 3 meetings. The best race is the 6 furlongs conditions event at 17.10 CET at Lingfield, which has attracted some pretty decent performers. The question mark here is Godolphin´s Mutheeb (Saeed bin Suroor/ Richard Hills), who is unbeaten in 2 starts but now facing much stronger opposition.

Strike the Deal (Jeremy Noseda/ Ryan Moore) has already proved his ability at this level and is best in at the weights, while Valery Borsov (David and Adrian Nicholls) won in amazing style last time at York. Matsunosuke (Barney Coogan/ Luke Morris) should not be judged on his recent turf form. He is an absolute all-weather specialist who could well run into a place at a big price. Brighton´s top race is the 3yo handicap also over 6 furlongs, at 15.40, which looks to lie between the 2 top-weights Safari Guide (Peter Winkworth/ Jim Crowley) and Fantastic Dubai (Mick Channon/ Sam Hitchcott), both of whom beaten in a photo-finish last time over 7 furlongs at Lingfield.

At Cartmel, the veterans´ chase over 3 3/4 miles at 17.00 looks very open with 15 runners. Stagecoach Diamond (Sue Smith/ Tjade Collier) has been runner-up 3 times running and deserves to get his head in front, but faces stern opposition from Irish-trained Balakar (James Lambe/ Robert Thornton) as well as Snowy (Peter Monteith/ Timmy Murphy), while Chabrimal Minster (Richard Ford/ Graham Lee) reserves his best form for this race, which he has won for the past 2 years; if he can complete the hat-trick, it would be the most popular result of the day.
