N.H. racing at Hereford

the only jumps racing today takes place at Hereford, where there are some large fieldsof mainly moderate performers. Power King (David Pip/ Tom Scudamor), an easy winner at Kempton a fortnight ago, can follow up in th 3 mile 1 furlong handicap chase at 16.40 CET. The mare Bonchester Bridge (Nicky Henderson/ Adrian Tinkler), although very disappointing so far this season, is dropping in class now and could be dangerous. The maiden hurdle at 17.40 has 16 runners, but should only concern Greenwich Meantime (Alan King/ Robert Thornton) and German-bred Aspolan (Rachel Hobbs/ Sean Quinlan). The former was a useful steying handicapper on the flat, winning 10 races including the Chester Cup, and made a fair hurdling debut recently. He is likely to start at a short price, and Aspolan, whose dam won the Preis der Diana and who has run respectably over sticks a few times, could be the value alternative.
