N.H. racing at Fontwell and Sedgefield

The opening novice hurdle at 15.30CET is possibly the best race at Fontwell this afternoon, as Call me a Legend (Alan King/ Robert Thornton) and Calusa Crystal are both well above average. They both carry a penalty of 14lbs for winning twice, but should still outclass today´s opposition. King and "Choc" can complete a double with Greenbridge, who has only two moderate opponents to beat in the novice chase at 17.00. Novice chases at minor meetings remain a major problem and rarely attract more than a tiny handful of runnres. At Sedgefield howvr thr is a dcnt fild for th novice chase at 15.50. Irish-trained Ingratitude (Gordon Elliott/ Jason Maguire) looks dangerous, while The Dukes Speech (Ferdy Murphy/ Keith Mercer) is the obvious form choice, but we have a sneaking fancy for Pilca, a disappointment over fncs so far but previously quite a useful hurdler. General Hardi (John Wade/ Brian Hughes) finally broke his duck last week at Newcastle with a very easy pillar to post victo ry and can follow up under a penalty in the 2 1/2 mile handicap chase at 16.50.
