Four flat fixtures today

Aintree has a monopoly on jumps racing today, but there are four flat meetings, Bath and Musselburgh this afternoon, and Wolverhampton and Dundalk (both all-weather) this evening. Easily the best racing comes from Dundalk, and the most valuable race of the day is the 3yo handicap over 1 miles 3 furlongs there at 21.30 CET. The Aga Khan should win this; he has 3 runners, two trained by John Oxx, Alamiyma (Fran Berry) and Aliyfa (Mick Kinane) and one by Mike Halford, Mariydi (Johnny Murtagh). It is quite likely that we shall be seeing these horses running in listed class or better before long. The 5 furlongs conditions race at Dundalk at 20.30 is also interesting. Call me Alice (David Wachman/ Wayne Lordan), as a 3yo maiden filly, gets all the allowances and is nicely weighted, but she will have to be smart to beat An Tadh (Ger Lyons/ Keagan Latham), who is inconsistent but probably best on his seasonal debut, and the much more consistent Invincible Ash (Halford/ Murtagh), bea ten only a neck by the smart Borderlscott in a listed race this CD in October. In England, Union Island (Kevin Ryan/ Paul Mulrennan) in the 9 furlongs race at 18.15 at Musselburgh, and Onemix (Barry and Michael Hills), in the 16.20 fillies race at Bath, should both get off the mark after running up a sequence of placed efforts. Empowered (William Haggas/ Tony Culhane), half-brother to Derby winner Authorized, is very lightly-raced, looks leniently handicapped and should take the 9 1/2 furlongs handicap at 21.50 at Wolverhampton.
