Kempton, Plumpton and Wolverhampton (a.w.)

Nicky Henderson´s stable continues in top form and looks the team to follow today, especially at Kempton, where he and stable jockey Barry Geraghty could well pick up 4 of the 7 races on the card. You´re the Top, who fell when well in contention in much better company at Cheltenham´s New Year meeting, should win the opening maiden hurdle at 15.10 CET and Dreamy Sweeney can follow up in another maiden half an hour later, while Pepsyrock could complete a hat-trick in the handicap chase at 16.50 and Finian´s Rainbow is one for the short list in the bumper at 18.30. Pepsyrock has gone up in the weights, and has some dangerous-looking opposition, for example CD winner Black Rocks (Jonathan Geake/ Jimmy McCarthy), who has dropped to a very favourable mark.

Geake has had a poor season, but also has chances with the German-bred Absolut Power (Simon Elliott) in the handicap hurdle at 17.25. He has not win since 2006 but is extremely well handicapped on his old form and as a son of Acatenango should appreciate the faster ground. Patsy Finegan (Alan King/ Robert Thornton) is the likely favoiurite here after two easy wins, but Celticello (David Evans/ Paul Moloney), unlucky last time, could be the main danger. Henderson could also score at Plumpton with Know the Law (Tony McCoy) in the maiden hurdle at 15.30. This is AP´s only ride of the day, which is a tip in itself. Otherwise at Plumpton, where the fields are larger but notably short on quality, Sula´s Legend (Neil Mulholland/ Felix de Giles) can make up for his mishap at Chepstow last week -where he fell when looking the likely winner - by winning the novice handicap chase at 16.40. The racing on the all-weather at Wolverthampton is also very low grade and the two handicaps for 3 yo´s are the most interesting events.

Over 6 furlongs at 17.00 there are 5 last-time-out winners, but two of them - Arachnophobia and Freepressionist - have not raced since November, while La Capriosa looks fully exposed after already running 16 times, including 8 times in 2009, although she keeps her form well. That leaves the lightly-raced Trip Switch (Willie Muir/ Neil Callan) as the likeliest winner. The 9 1/2 furlongs handicap at 18.10 should lie between the two top-weights Duke of Normandy (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning), still a maiden but with several decent performances to his credit, and Kiyari (Marco Botti) who can give Seb Sanders his first winner since returning from a long injury break.
