Huntingdon, Wincanton and Southwell (a.w.)

just average fare at today´s three British meetings, and Tony McCoy can please his army of fans by winning the first two races at Huntingdon on Nicky Henderson´ s hurdles debutant Horseford Hill at 15.10 CET and Evan Williams´ Bergo half an hour later. The latter, a German-bred son of Silvano, was a bit disappointing last time at Ascot, but the form of his first two outings over the sticks give him a great chance in this company. Greenwich Meantime (Alan King/ Robert Thornton), a 9yo making his debut over hurdles, is the main danger, having been a useful stayer on the flat and winner of the Chester Cup in 2007. Another German-bred runner on the card is Idris (Gary and Jamie Moore) who contests the handicap hurdle at 16.40 and after some below par performances has been dropped by the handicapper to a very lenient mark. Paul Nicholls is usually the man to follow at his local track Wincanton, and his two runners today, Classic Swain at 15.30 and Aironageestring at 17.00, both in novice hurdles and both partnered by Sam Thomas, must therefore be taken very seriously. Andrew Baldng´s Kervriou (Mattie Batchelor), a faller last time, faces lesser opposition now and can defY top weight in the novice handicap chase at 15.50. Best race at Southwell is the 7 furlongs handicap at 16.55. Autumn Blades (Alan Bailey/ Micky Fenton) won this CD last time out from Caprio (Tom Dascombe/ Richard Kingscote) and may confitm the form on 2 lbs worse terms, but Smarty Socks (Peter Midgeley/ Jamie Moriarty) is in excellent form and can successfully move up in grade after winning 4 of his last 5 races. Top-weight Royal Dignitary (David and Adrian Nicholls) is another multiple winner, but has been off the track for 8 months and may need the race.
