All-weather action at Lingfield and Wolverhampton

As usual for a Monday, this afternoon´s all-weather cards at Lingfield and Wolverhampton offer very little excitement, but the main interest will be at Lingfield, where 4 of the 7 races are reserved for 3yo´s. There are only 5 runners in the 6 furlongs handicap at 16.30 CET, but they all have decent form and Chasca (Amanda Perrett/ Jim Crowley), an outsider when winning this CD on his debut, will probably start favourite this time to remain unbeaten. His rating seems very favourable, as there seems no obvious reason why top-weight Under Review (Simon Callaghan/ Jamie Spencer), odds-on when winning a Southwell maiden last time, should have to concede so much weight. Raimond Ridge (Mick Channon/ Marc Geran) has been kept very busy, but has run 3 good races over this CD recently and also has a chance.

Callaghan and Spencer also have a fancied runner in the next race, a 7 furlongs handicap, with Cool Art, but we prefer top-weight Takeover Bid (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning), who has won 3 of his last 5 races, and Set the Trend (Andrew Balding/ Liam Keniry) who won a maiden here in good style and can also remain unbeaten. Possibly the 3yo maiden over 10 furlongs at 17.30 has the best field, and John Gosden´s Big Bound (Jimmy Fortune) and Clive Brittain´s filly Wadaat (Spencer), who have both shown promise, are potentially the best runners on the card.

The racing at Wolverhampton is pretty feeble, and the fillies 5 furlongs handicap at 17.20 should lie between Drifting Gold (Clive Cox/ Adam Kirby) and Welsh Opera (Steve Williams/ William Carson), with the former, an absolute distance specialist, preferred. There could also a winning filly in the previous race, for 3yo maidens over 9 furlongs, as Keep Ringing (William Haggas/ Liam Jones), the only filly in the field, has the best form. Agilete (Jeff Pearce/ Jerry O´Dwyer) missed all of 2008 but has come back to form this year with 3 good runs over this CD and can score again in the 9 1/2 furlongs handicap at 17.50.
