All-weather action at Kempton and Southwell

After the excellent race at Kempton yesterday evening, this evening´s card is much less inspiring, although Onemix (Barry Hills/ Chris Catlin) and Coming Back (John Gosden/ Robert Havlin) are two interesting runners in the 10 furlongs race for maiden fillies at 20.20 CET. Our preference is for the former, runner-up on both starts so far over a mile and probably well suited by the extra distance. Prince Charlemagne (Gary Moore/ George Baker) is on a roll and can complete a four-timer (and a CD hat-trick) in the 1 1/2 mile handicap at 20.50, while Ed Dunlop´s Arabian Spirit (Tom McLaughlin) was very consistent last season and can come off a 166 day break by taking the mile handicap an hour later.

At Southwell this afternoon, the fare is less exciting, and some small fields make it even less interesting. The best race here is the 5 furlongs handicap at 16.45. Zoe Davison has her string in good form and Sherjawy (Sam Hitchcott) has an obvious chance of following up his Monday win at Kempton under a penalty, but we have a slight preference for CD specialist Guto (Bill Ratcliffe/ Kelly Harrison), who seems to be coming back to form. This One´s for Pat (Steve Parr/ Neil Callan) was a disappointing favourite when last seen over a mile here at Christmas, but before that had won twice over this CD - his only career victories- and could be a big danger after the break.
