German runners at Deauville

French racing action switches now from the South to the North of the country, amd today sees the first day of the Deauville "spring" meeting. German runners did very well at the winter meeting here, and two runners today will try to improve that record: Malkovich (Ralf Schaaf/ Maxime Guyon), a recent winner at Dortmund, runs in the 3yo claimer over 1500 metres at 14.20, and front-runner Orway (Ralf Rohne/ Y Bourgois), winner of his last 2 races at this track, runs in the 2400 metres handicap at 16.20. In both cases there are large fields with numerous possibilities, so that it will not be easy for the two German runners.
