Baltromei tries again at Cagnes-sur-mer

Werner Baltromei´s raid on Cagnes-sur-mer has so far not gone to plan, but he can get back in the winners enclosure today with Escargot (Dominique Boeuf) in the 3yo maiden over 2000 metres at 14.15. He ran very encouragingly here last time out. Baltromei ad Boeuf also team up with Soterio, who has top-weight in the 3400 metres handicap at 16.20 and Star Warrior in the mile handicap at 17.20. Both of these could run well, although Soterio will be pushed to confirm his recent winning form over 3rd-placed Host on 4 kilos worse terms. There are also plenty of ex-German runners on the card, the most interesting of whom could be Crossbill, who is now trained in France but still owned by Stall Australia; he ran an excellent race here a week ago and has good prospects in the conditions race over a mile at 15.50.
