All-weather action at Kempton and Wolverhampton

All-weather racing this afternoon at Wolverhampton and this evening at Kempton, but again the vast majority of races are class 5 or 6. The best race at Wolverhampton is the 7 furlongs handicap at 18.00 CET, where the ex-Australian Catalan Bay (Jeremy Gask/ Steve Drowne) makes his second British start. He was well supported on his debut here and ran a fine race to finish second at Lingfield a month ago and, given normal improvement, should go close today. The dangers are Cornus (Alan McCabe/ James Doyle), not disgraced in 5th last time after two wins including this CD, and easy last-time-out winner Caprio (Tom Dascombe/ Ross Atkinson), both from in-form stables. There is quite a large field for the 1 3/4 miles handicap at 16.30, and German-bred Safin, who is not the most consistent but is currently in good form, having won last week both over hurdles and on the flat, can score again. The filly Ice Bellini (Gay Kelleway/ Jamie Spencer) is an obvious threat.

At Kempton, the 3yo handicap over 7 furlongs at 21.20 is the main event, and Mark Johnson´s Emirates World (Joe Fanning), an easy maiden winner last time, can continue the stable´s winning run. Markyg (Karl Burke/ Fergus Sweeney) looks the main danger; he showed quite useful form last year but has been off since October and has a huge weight to carry.
