French racing today

The Paris trotting track at Vincennes stages one of its major meetings today, when a high-class card is topped by the Prix de Cornulier, Europe´s most valuable "monté" over 2700 metres at 14.50. This column is no expert on trotting, but we understand that last year´s winner Magnificent Rodney may well complete the double. There is also a good jumps card at Pau, featuring the Grand Prix de Pau, a steeplechase over 5300 metres at 16.40. Trainer Jacques Ortet launches a strong challenge for this race with 5 runners, best of which should be Quaska d´Airy (Christophe Pieux); Ramses Bleu (Guy Cherel/ Cyril Gombeau) looks the main danger.
