Newbury this afternoon

main feature of a good card at Newbury today is the Grade One Challow Hurdle for novices over 2 miles at 15.45 CET; only 6 runners, but a highly interesting event with the exciting Diamond Harry (Nick Williams/ Timmy Murphy) entered. He won both his bumpers here, with a year´s interval in between, then reappeared after another long breal to win both his hurdles starts very easily, but moves up in grade here. Paul Nicholls´ pair Massasoit (Tony McCoy) and Hells Bay (Sam Thomas) offer stern opposition, while Junior (Alan King/ Robert Thornton) came back to form last time and could well beat them all. The graduation chase at 14.35 shold go to Gone to Lunch (Jeremy Scott/ Tony McCoy), now finally justifying the earlier hype, although Mr.Pointment (Paul Nicholls/ Sam Thomas) has a higher rating and could be a major stumbling block. Nicky Hemnederson´s good run could contin e wth the unbeaten Dave´s Dream in the introductory hurdle at 15.10, while ex-German Amore Mio (Emma Lavelle/ Jack Doyle), who won 3 successive races in the summer, is just one of several interesting flat-raced newcomers in the 3yo hurdle at 14.00.
