German-breds at Ascot

Ascot´s winter season starts today with a strong N.H. card, and it is by no means impossible that German-breds will dominate the racing. Trainer Charlie Mann has always done well with his German imports and can win the main feature, a valuable 3 mile handicap chase at 15.05 CET, with Air Force One, who has been switched from the Charlie Hall Chase, as Mann considers the ground at Ascot to be more suitable. However as a son of Lando, Air Force One has always been well suited by good to fast ground. Air Force One will be ridden by Noel Fehily, who also partners two more Charlie Mann-trained German-breds in Moon over Miami at 14.05 and Laredo Sound at 14.35, although the latter faces a tough opponent in Paul Nicholls´ hat-trick seeking Font (Tony McCoy). Nordwind (Evan Williams/ Donal Fahy) in the novice hurdle at 15.40 and Swordsman (Charlie Gordon/ Colin Bolger) at 16.15 are two more German-breds with each-way chances.
