N.H. racing at Kempton and Fontwell

two jumps meetings in the U.K. today, with Kempton staging by far the most interesting races. Star attraction is champion hurdler Katchit, who runs in the 2 miles hurdles race at 17.35 CET. In theory he has to win this, as he has about a stone in hand on official ratings, but if he is rusty after his layoff since Cheltenham, then Sporazene (Paul Nicholls/ Ruby Walsh) could be the one to cause him problems. In any case Nicholls and Walsh hould score with Woolcombe Folly, who looks an above average novice and can complete a four-timer in the listed hurdle race at 16.25.

German-bred Cortinas (Charlie Mann/ Noel Fehily) could go well in the beginners chase at 15.50, but this looks quite a tricky event. It could be significant that champion jockey Tony McCoy rides at the lesser meeting at Fontwell, and he has winning chances on all three of his mounts, Abuliton at 15.30 and Shoreacres at 16.00, both for Brendan Powell, and Kilcrea Asia for Tom George at 16.35. There is also flat racing on the all-weather at Southwell, where most of the races are class 4 handicaps. Punters should keep an eye on cult horse Pawan, ridden as usual by trainer Ann Stokell, who goes for the 6 furlongs race at 17.55, as he runs his best races at this track.
