German runners at Deauville

German-trained runners were out of luck yesterday at Deauville, but it could be a different matter today. World in Action (Doris Smith/ Julian Augé) runs in a 1900 metres handicap on the fibresand track at 14.20, while Syriana (Pavel Vovcenko/ Thierry Thulliez) runs in a 2yo claimer over the same CD an hour later. However Werner Baltromei and Domnique Boeuf probably have the best chance of a German win; they team up with Soterio in the 2700 metres claimer at 16.20 (when ironically ex-stable companion Loup de Mer could be the main danger) and Titan War in a 2000 metres handicap for 3yo´s at 16.50, both on turf. Main feature is the Group Three Prix des Reservoirs for 2yo fillies over a mile at 14.50. There are no German nor British runners here, though the Italian-trained Alta Fedelta (V. Caruso/ Mirco Demuro) has been supplemented. Of the 6 French runners, the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained pair Ciel Rouge (Ioritz Mendizibal) and Homebound (Christophe Lemaire) look the most likely to keep the prize at home.
