Gimcrack and

As the name Ebor is so closely connected with York, the big handicap has been rebranded as the Newburgh handiap for today´s substitute race at Newbury. The race, to be run at 16.25 CET, is now a furlong shorter and less valuable, but it is still a pretty hot handicap. Top weight Yellowstone (Jane Chapple-Hyam/ John Egan) is a class act but has a huge weight to carry. Pippa Greene (Paul Cole/ Shae Kelly) defeated Young Mick (George Margarson/ Robert Winston) last tie but he latter was unlucky that day and is now 4 lbs better off.Handicap specilaists Sir Mark Prescott, Luca Vumani and TonyMartin are reprfesented by Wicked Daze (Seb Sanders), Bauer (Richard Hughes) and Salute Him (Philip Robinson) respectively and must all be taken seriously, as must Henry Cecil´s Ajaan (Tom Queally).

The Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes for 2yo colts and geldings will also be run here, over 6 furlongs at 14.45. This is also very open with 13 runners. Art Connoisseur (Michael Bell/ Jamie Spencer) won his first 3 races and looked smart when scoring at Royal Ascot, but was disappointing last time in Ireland. Jobe (Kevin Ryan/ Neil Callan) was a very easy winner last time, but the two unbeaten colts Marine Boy (Tom Dascombe/ Richard Kingscote) and Master Noverre (Richard fahey/ Paul Hanagan) could be the ones on whom to concentrate.
