Carlisle and Windsor this evening

This evening´s Carlisle meeting is very low key, and the best race is the class 4 handicap for 3yo´s over 7 furlongs at 20.45. Andrew Balding continues in tremendous form, so it is probably significant that he sends Transfer (Franny Norton) on the long journey from Hampshire. Although his only win came on the all-weather, he has been running in better events lately. CD specialist Horatio Carter (Kevin Ryan/ Royston Ffrench) and Kashimin (Alan Swinbank/ PJ McDonald) look the main dangers, although the latter is unproven at the distance. Richard hannon has an excellent strike rate at Windsor, and should take the 2yo maide at 19.30 with Acquiesced (Ryan Moore), runner-up in good company on both his starts so far; Poyle Meg (Ralph Beckett/ Jack Doyle) is the obvious danger on public form, although there are several newcomers in the field. Hannon also has a chance with Border Owl (Hadden Frost) in the mile handicap at 20.30. However this eay CD winner 7 days ago is moving up into handicap comoany for the first time, a remark which also applies to last-time-out maiden winners Fountains Abbey (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) and Summerstrand (Michael Jarvis/ Philip Robinson): A good performane by the last-named would be a pointer to the chances of Duncan (John Dunlop/ Eddie Ahern) in the following maiden race over 10 furlongs, as he finished only a short head behind Summerstrand at Newmarket on their debuts 17 days ago
