York this afternoon

There is also a high class meeting at York this afternoon, with many of the top jockeys riding here rather than at Ascot, for example the Godolphin stable jockeys Frankie Dettori and Kerrin McEvoy. They partner Campanologist and Stage Gift resoectively in the mean feature, the Group Two York Stakes over 10 furlongs, which has attracted a strong field. John Gosden´s Pipedreamer (Seb Sanders), third in both the Prince of Wales and Eclipse, in which he finished in front of Campanologist and Multidimensional (Henry Cecil/ Ted Durcan), is the likely favourite. but Tajweed, last time a disappointing 8th in the Derby for which he was well backed, is another danger. However the Godolphin horses fare here - and we certainly expect Campanologist to be involved in the finish - their jockeys could still be in the winner´s enclosure with Crystal Capella (Sir Michael Stoute/ McEvoy) in the 10 furlongs handicap at 15.40, and Express Wish (Jeremy Noseda/ Frankie) in the 6 furlongs race at 16.45 both expected to run well - although there are 20 runners in the latter event, so it is wide open. Another one to watch here is cult horse Pawan (Ann Stokell), who ran a great race behind today´s top-weight Knot in Wood (Richard Fahey/ Jamie Moriarty) in a similar race at Hamilton last week.
