Irish racing today

There is flat racing tida at Fairyhouse and a mixed meeting (4 flat races, 3 hurdles races and a bumper) at Tipperary, and it could be significant that Aidan O´Brin has sent his sdtAble jockey Johnny Murtagh to the latter track fir two rides. The well-bred Hail Caesar makes his debut in the 7 1/2 maiden race for 2yo´s at 15.15 CET, where he has David Wachman´s Miss Puss (Wayne Lordan) to beat, while Psalm, who has been running in much better races, should surely take the 9 furlongs maiden at 16.15. Easily the best jumps race is the valuable Grade 3 Gromes Hurdle at 16.45, which has attracted a strong field, headed by German-bred Kalderon (Tom Hogan/ David Casey) and Salford City (Gordon Elliott/ Nina Carberry), both very tough types but they will be pushed to concede weight to Megan´s Joy (Colm Murphy/ Davy Russell) and another ex-German Heavenly Blues (Ted and Ruby Walsh). Best event at Fairyhouse is the listed 6 furlongs race at 16.35. Lipocco (Ralph Beckett/ Declan McDonough), the lone foreign challenger, could take this back to England after his good effort at Royal Asco, but Dermot Weld´s ex-Italian Le Cadre Noir (Pat Smullen) looks a big danger after his excellent 2nd of 18 to Masta Plasta in a big handicap at the Curragh a week ago.
