German runners at Maisons-Laffitte

Main feature at Maisons-Laffitte today is the Group Three Prix Messidor over a mile at 16.15. There are no German runners in the field, but several in the supporting programme: Matchpoint (Norbert Sauer/ Davy Bonilla) runs with bottom weight in the tiercé handicap over 1200 metres at 14.45, while Persico (Phillip Feddern/ Olivier Peslier) and Naxon (Werner Baltromei/ Dominique Boeuf) both look likely to start a long odds in thr second division at 17.45. Alpe d´Huez (Baltromei/ Boeuf) and Setareh (Petr Olsanik/ Andreas Suborics) both run in the 1600 metres event for 3yo´s at 16.45, while Olsanik and Subi are also represented by La Patron in the mile seller at 1.15, where Hana Mouchowa rides Hucknall for Torsten Angne. In the Messidor, André Fabre´s Crosspoint (Stephane Pasquier) is expected to start favourite; this half-brother to Rail Link has won his last 4 races, but may find this distance on the sharp side. Spirito del Vento (Jean-Marie Beguigne/ Olivier Peslier) is a specialist miler, while Freddie Head´s seasonal debutant Racinger (Davy Bonilla) can profit from the stromng stable form.
