All-weather action at Southwell and Wolverhampton

Two very modest all-weather meetings today, with racing this afternoon at Wolverhampton and Southwell this evening and no race at either track better than class 5. St Trinians (Nicky Vaughan/ Liam Jeniry) could take the maiden race at 16.15 CETat Wolverhampton, after running third on his debut. This is a poor race, although some of the newcomrs and lightly-raced types might prove a threat. The CD winners Fenners (Mick Easteby/ Dale Gibson) and Inch Lodge (Debbie Mountain/ Paul Eddery) should be thereabouts in the 1 1/2 mie handicap at 16.45, while an hour later Willie Ever (Brian Ellison/ Jean-Pierre Guillambert) can follow up a recent easy win here under a penalty. At Southwell, To Bubbles (David Barron/ Neil Brown) has obvious prospects in the 6 furlongs maiden at 21.10, but Henry Candy´s newcomer Crataegus (Dane O´Neill) might pose a problem. Barney Curley´s runners are always to be feared at this level, and his lightly-raced Elusive Hawk (Andrew Stringer/ Tom Queally), last seen out inning this CD in February, may be good enough to take the 21.40 handicap, but track specialist Owed (Robin Bastiman/ Robert Winsto), 5 times a CD winner including last time out, seems the more reliable option.
