Longchamp this afternoon

French flat racing today comes from Longchamp, while there is trotting at Laval and Vichy. Main feature in the Bois du Boulogne is the Group Three Prix du Lys for 3yo over 12 furlongs at 15.20 CET. This seems poor planning in view of the large number of valuable races for 3yo this week at Ascot, so ity is no surprise that there are onlt French runners in the field. The race could well go to the Aga Khan, who has 3 runners. Whiler Beret Roige is presumably in the field as a pacemaker, both Ripple (Christophe Lemaire) and Montmartre (Christophe Soumillon) should be involved in the finish. There are 2 German runners today, Grazilla (Andreas Trybuhl Antony Crastus) in the opening race over 2000 metres at 13.50 and Pavel Vovcenko s Kasus (Filip Minarik) who, if anywhere near his best form, can win the 3000 metres seller at 17.15.
