Listed race at Pontefract

Sunday flat racing in Britain is usually weak, and today offers the usual fare - with one exception, the listed race at 16.40 CET at Pontefract over 1 1/2 miles. The field of 8 includes some useful performers, notably Henry Cecil´s Tranquil Tiger (Tom Queally) and Mark Johnston´s German-bred Peppertree Lane (Neil Callan), who share top weight. Both are front-runners, which could open the way for Alan Swinbank´s Alfie Flits (Jim Crowley), who won this race 2 years ago and is now dropping in grade after some unsuccessful forays in group races.
