Goodwood today

Main event at this afternoon´s Goodwood meeting - relatively low level by the normal standards at this track - is the class 2 5 furlongs race for 2yo´s at 15.30 CET. Only 5 runners, with both Richard Hannon and Mick Channon saddling two. Hannon´s pair look much stronger, with Doughnut (Richard Hughes) presumably the stable´s preferred over Icesolator (Pat Dobbs), and easy CD winner only last Saturday. The fifth runner, also in with a chance, is Willie Jarvis´ Smokey Storm, who was a narrow winner last time at Brighton. The 6 furlongs handicap at 16.00 looks really wide open, and almost 15 runners can be given a chance, but this be an opportunity for Andrew Balding´s Dingaan (William Buick), who likes it here, to make up for a very unlucky run last Saturday; that was his fifth fourth place in a row, so he is obviously not one to lump on at short odds.
