Chester - day three

Today is the third and final day of Chester´s popular May meeting, and once again tthere are two Greoupo Three races on the card. The Dee Stakes for 3yo´s over 10 furlongs at 15.15 CET can be regarded as a Derby trial and Henry Cecil won both races with Oath; today he is represented by the consistent and progressive Unnefer (TEd Durcan), but he faces strong opposition, notably from Aidan O´Brien´s Achill Island (Johnny Murtagh), Sir Michael Stoute´s Tajaaweed (Richard Hills) and especially Alexandros (Saeed bin Suroor/ Frankie Dettori). The Godolphin horse would be a strong selection were the stable form better. The Ormonde Stakes half an hour lateris for older horses over 1 mile 5 furlongs and also has a strong field. Aidan O´Brien´s Macarthur (Murtagh) i the likely favourite here; although he was a bit disappointing last season, he has always been highly rated. Raincoat (John Gosden/ Dettori)is a danger, while the German-owned front-runner Tempelstern (Cecil/ Durcan) ran her best race ever last time at Newbury and holds Red Gala (Stoute/ Jamie Spencer) on that form.
