Races in Pontefract

The only flat racing in the U.K. this afternoon is at Pontefract, where the main event is a very tricky 6 furlongs handicap at 16.10 CET. 16 runners, quote a few of whom have already met, with varying results; several ran in last September´s Ayr Gold Cup without making much impression in that very hot event. On last season´s form, Genki (Roger Charlton/ Steve Drowne) is entitled to start favourite, he has first or second all of his 8 starts on turf. He is expected to go on to better things, but could be at a disadvantage today on his seasonal debut. Zomerlust (John Quinn/ Graham Gibbons) and Damika (Richard Whitaker/ Michael Stainton) have already run this year and can therefore be slightly preferred, but there are are plenty of possibilities in a very open race
