Folkestone today

Folkestone is not noted for high quality racing and today´s card is no exception. The best race is the 7 furlongs event for maidens at 17.00 CET. The 4 older horses have not made much impression so far, so the 10 3yo´s in the line-up should dominate. The three to concentrate on should be Peter Chapple-Hyam´s Glorious Gift, a close relation to Germany and in the frame both starts last year, and Oarsman (Roger Charlton/ Steve Drowne) and Pravda Street (Paul Cole/ Richard Quinn), who both finished runner-up on their only starts last year. The most interesting runner in the fillies handicap over 1 /2 miles at 18.05 is Naughty Thoughts (Tom Dascombe / Richard Kingscote), who has won her last 2 starts on the all-weather and has suddenly improved. However she has never run beyond 9 furlongs (although bred to stay) and her turf form is not inspiring, so she is no good thing on the likely heavy ground today.
